Jessica Ordaz is an Assistant Professor of Ethnic Studies at the University of Colorado Boulder, specializing in Chicanx/Latinx history, US-Mexico border studies, and carceral state analysis. Her work bridges migration politics, labor history, and food justice.

Her research examines migrant detention regimes and BIPOC veganism. She authored The Shadow of El Centro (2021) and contributes to critical debates on racial capitalism and border abolitionism.
