Jessica Nogueira Castro

Jessica Nogueira Castro is a PhD candidate and FPU fellowship holder in Contemporary History at the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (USC), Department of History. Her research focuses on social mobilization, collective action, and conflict dynamics from the late Franco era to the 1990s. She has held grants including MECD collaboration (2017/18) at Fondo Nomes e Voces and the FPU doctoral fellowship.

Her work examines historical memory, repression under Francoism, and rural conflict dynamics. Key projects include studies on democratic memory recovery in Santiago de Compostela and violence analysis in 20th-century Spain. She has contributed to initiatives like the Galeusca Congress and the Four-Year Democratic Memory Plan (2022).

Awards include the USC’s Premio Extraordinario de Grado for academic excellence. Her research integrates archival studies, public memory projects, and interdisciplinary collaborations.
