Antonio Miguez Macho is an Associate Professor in the Department of Contemporary History and American History at the University of Santiago de Compostela, affiliated with the Faculty of Geography and History. His research focuses on genocide studies, political history, and social movements, particularly in Galicia and Spain. He is part of the Interuniversity Research Center for Atlantic Cultural Landscapes (CISPAC) and has authored numerous works on the Spanish Civil War, Francoist repression, and historical memory.
His doctoral thesis (2006) explored citizenship construction through social movements in Galicia. Key publications include *La genealogía genocida del franquismo* (2014), analyzing the genocidal practices of the Franco regime, and *Golpistas e verdugos de 1936* (2018), examining perpetrators of the 1936 coup. His work bridges historical analysis with memory studies, addressing Spain's unresolved past.
Miguez Macho’s research also engages with comparative genocide, rural social dynamics, and the intersection of law and historical accountability. He collaborates on projects like the Interuniversity Investigation Project *As vítimas, os nomes, as voces e os lugares*, focusing on victims of repression. His contributions highlight the need for confronting historical truths to foster societal healing.
