Dr Jessica Lomas is a Lecturer in the School of Psychology at the University of Sheffield, having joined the institution in 2019 initially as Psychology Tutor in the Department for Lifelong Learning, then transitioning to the School of Psychology in 2022. She currently serves as Recruitment Lead for Psychology and teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
Her academic qualifications include:
- BSc Psychology (First Class Honours, 2015), University of Manchester
- MSc Forensic Psychology and Mental Health (2016), University of Manchester
- PhD Forensic Psychology (2021), Nottingham Trent University
Her research centers on forensic psychology with emphasis on reintegration and resettlement of individuals with convictions. Her doctoral work examined accommodation needs of people with sexual offence convictions. Additional interests include societal stigma toward sexual offences, desistance from crime, the meaning of home, and pedagogical research on students sharing personal experiences in classroom settings.
She organizes and delivers key modules including Offending Behaviours: Rehabilitation and Resettlement and MSc Research Methods, while supervising undergraduate and postgraduate projects. Her professional background spans secure hospitals, prison settings, community mental health services, and voluntary sector organizations.
