Dr. Jessica Hodge is an Associate Professor in the Department of Justice & Society Studies at the University of St. Thomas. She teaches courses including Hate Crimes, Introduction to Criminal Justice, and Corrections. Previously, she served as Assistant Professor at the University of Missouri, Kansas City and was faculty director of the Center for the Common Good (2018-2023). She holds a doctorate in Criminology from the University of Delaware.
Her research focuses on hate crimes, gender/queer issues in criminal justice, and community-engaged pedagogy. Key interests include gender-motivated violence, LGBTQ+-police interactions, and social justice education. Her work employs community-based methodologies to examine systemic biases.
Publications demonstrate consistent focus on criminal justice reform, with recent work exploring police transparency and community partnerships. Research trends show progression from foundational hate crime legislation analysis to contemporary studies of institutional behavior and rehabilitation efficacy.
