Jessica Garrett

Dr. Jessica Garrett is an Adjunct Professor at the Michigan School of Psychology (MSP), teaching courses in Assessment and Assessment Lab for the Master of Arts program. Her clinical focus spans psychological evaluations, ADHD, autism, learning/school-related assessments, special education, and child and adolescent psychopathology. She emphasizes the importance of community and shared dedication to psychology in her teaching philosophy.

Her passion for child psychology was influenced by early exposure to the works of Piaget, Erikson, Jung, Bruce Perry, and Russell Barkley. She recommends Bruce Perry's The Boy Who Was Raised as a Dog for its insights into trauma's impact on child development, reflecting her commitment to understanding neurodevelopmental challenges.

Dr. Garrett advises students to balance technical mastery with human connection, quoting Carl Jung: “Know all the theories, master all the techniques, but as you touch a human soul, be just another human soul.”
