معرفی
Jessica C. Seeliger is a Professor in the Department of Pharmacological Sciences at Stony Brook University, where she leads a research laboratory focused on membrane biosynthesis, structure, and behavior in bacterial pathogenesis. She previously conducted postdoctoral research at the University of California, Berkeley.
Education
- AB in Chemistry, Harvard University
- MPhil in Chemistry, University of Cambridge (as Churchill Scholar)
- PhD in Biophysical Chemistry, Stanford University (Thesis: 'Understanding Unidirectional Electron Transfer in the Photosynthetic Reaction Center Using Protein Engineering')
Research Focus
Her laboratory investigates fundamental mechanisms of membrane biology in pathogenic bacteria, with emphasis on biosynthesis pathways, structural dynamics, and behavioral implications for disease processes. This work bridges biophysical chemistry and microbiological systems.
Awards and Recognition
- Hertz Fellowship (2000)
- Churchill Scholar (2000)
- Raymond Sidney Volunteer Leadership Award (2022)
- Robbee Baker Kosak Leadership Prize (2025)
She actively contributes to academic communities through leadership roles in the Hertz Foundation, including organizing fellow retreats and mentoring programs.
