Professor Jessica Asscher holds a position at Utrecht University's Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences, leading the Chair for Development and Treatment of Psychosocial Problems. Her research focuses on juvenile delinquency, criminal justice interventions, and psychosocial treatment efficacy. She has been actively involved in over 140 research outputs and 14 grants/awards. Key activities include supervising studies on prison rehabilitation through dog training programs (2021), juvenile justice sentencing (2023), and evaluating Home-Start parenting programs since 2005.
Her work spans forensic psychology, child welfare, and institutional care. Recent presentations include analyzing sentencing goals in youth crimes (2023) and assessing psychopathy predictors in juvenile delinquents (2019). She has co-supervised PhD theses on Family Group Conferencing in child welfare (2019) and prison dog programs (2021).
Award-winning research includes longitudinal studies on parent-adolescent relationships (2006) and antisocial behavior interventions (2007). Her lab focuses on developing evidence-based treatments for at-risk youth and evaluating correctional interventions.
