Jesse Reiser is a Professor of Architecture at Princeton University's School of Architecture, where he has taught since 2000. He co-founded Reiser + Umemoto RUR Architecture PC, an internationally recognized design firm specializing in multidisciplinary projects ranging from furniture to urban infrastructure. His academic background includes a B.Arch. from The Cooper Union and an M.Arch. from Cranbrook Academy of Art.
His research interests focus on innovative architectural design, cosmopolitanism in architecture, and sustainable structural systems. Key projects include the Taipei Pop Music Center, Kaohsiung Port Terminal, and the O-14 skyscraper in Dubai, which have garnered awards such as the Concrete Industry Board’s 2009 Award of Merit and the American Council of Engineering Companies’ 2009 Diamond Award.
Reiser has received notable accolades, including the Chrysler Award for Excellence in Design (1999) and the Academy Award in Architecture (2000). His firm’s work emphasizes forward-thinking designs that transcend clients’ needs to enhance cultural and ecological contexts.
Prior teaching roles include Columbia University, Yale University, and institutions in Asia. His practice and writings, such as Atlas of Novel Tectonics (2006) and O-14: Projection Reception (2012), explore architectural possibilities beyond conventional norms.
