Jesse Aron Scott, Ph.D., is an Adjunct Lecturer at Saint Louis University’s School for Professional Studies. He holds a Ph.D. (2024) and M.S. (2020) in Forest Resources and Conservation from the University of Florida, with graduate certificates in Natural Resources Policy and Administration (2020) and Forest Health and Resilience (2021). His undergraduate degrees include Sustainability Management (2016) and Environmental Science (2009) from St. Petersburg College.
Dr. Scott specializes in geospatial analysis, emergency response planning, and ecological restoration. His research focuses on stream restoration methodologies, particularly expanding the Minnesota and Wisconsin Stream Quantification Tool (SQT), and integrating hydrological, geomorphological, and biological parameters to evaluate restoration success. He emphasizes applied learning in teaching, using real-world case studies and GIS applications in emergency planning and disaster response.
Dr. Scott has over two decades of leadership experience in federal service and the military. He currently serves as a Supervisory Biologist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and previously held roles as an Emergency Manager and Geospatial Supervisor with the U.S. Coast Guard. His work includes training personnel in GIS-based contingency planning and disaster response mapping, enhancing situational awareness and resource coordination.
