Jessamyn R. Abel is an Associate Professor in the Asian Studies and History Departments at Pennsylvania State University, affiliated with the School of International Affairs. She holds the title of Book Review Editor for the Journal of Japanese Studies. Her research focuses on modern Japan, particularly democratization, technology, and infrastructure, with a focus on postwar institutions like railways, public broadcasting, and Parent-Teacher Associations. She is on formal study leave to Princeton through SP 26.
