Jesper Levinsen is an Associate Professor at Monash University's School of Physics and Astronomy. His research focuses on strongly interacting quantum systems at the interface of condensed matter physics and ultracold atomic gases, with a particular emphasis on superfluidity, impurities in quantum gases, few-body physics, and low-dimensional systems. He is an Associate Investigator in the ARC Centre of Excellence in Future Low-Energy Electronics Technologies (FLEET) and collaborates with the Monash Quantum Information Science group, supported by Samsung funding.
Current teaching responsibilities include PHS3101 Quantum Mechanics and Quantum Fluids in the Masters program. Research projects span polarons in two-dimensional systems, impurity dynamics, and quantum many-body correlations. He has led multiple ARC-funded projects since 2015, including studies on few-body correlations in quantum matter and polaron dynamics in Bose-Einstein condensates.
Research interests are centered on the interplay between few- and many-body physics in strongly correlated systems. Notable collaborations include work on exciton-polaritons, quantum fluids, and the application of theoretical methods to experimental platforms like transition metal dichalcogenides and optical lattices.
Grants and funding include ARC grants and industry partnerships. Advising focuses on Honours and PhD students in theoretical quantum matter. His work is published extensively in journals like Physical Review B and SciPost Physics, with preprints available on arXiv.
