Jerry Y. Chao

Jerry Y. Chao, MD, MS, is an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and attending anesthesiologist at Montefiore-Einstein, affiliated with Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He specializes in pediatric anesthesiology, particularly regional and spinal anesthesia in infants. His research focuses on early anesthetic effects using EEG monitoring in infants and young children to enhance patient safety.

Dr. Chao holds a BS in Neuroscience from Brown University (2002), MD from Mount Sinai School of Medicine (2006), and MS in clinical research methods from Albert Einstein College of Medicine (2016). He completed residencies in anesthesiology at Mount Sinai Medical Center (2010) and a fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology at Stanford University (2011).

His research is supported by the KL2 Award and other grants, with findings published in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and presentations. He is board certified and active in professional societies including the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the Society for Neuroscience in Anesthesiology and Critical Care.

Dr. Chao has been recognized with the Leo M. Davidoff Society award for excellence in medical education. He leads the Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship Program and contributes to both clinical care and advancing anesthesia safety for pediatric patients.
