Jerome C. Foss is a Professor of Politics at St. Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. He specializes in political theory, politics and literature, and American politics, with a focus on integrating philosophical, historical, and theological insights into modern democratic governance. Foss earned his PhD in Political Science from Baylor University in 2011.

Foss’s research explores tensions between constitutional governance and egalitarian democracy, as seen in his critique of Rawlsian pragmatism and analysis of Flannery O’Connor’s literary-political insights. His work bridges political philosophy with Catholic social thought and interdisciplinary pedagogy.
He has received multiple institutional awards, including the Thoburn Award for excellence in teaching (2021) and the Projektenmacher Award (2022). Foss is also a Fellow of the Center for Political and Economic Thought and serves on the Board of the Society for Catholic Social Scientists.
