Lucas Briola, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Theology at Saint Vincent College and a member of the School of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. A Pittsburgh native, he earned his BA in theology and history from Saint Vincent College, followed by an MTS from Boston College School of Theology and Ministry, and a PhD from The Catholic University of America. His scholarship focuses on Catholic environmentalism, social ethics, and integral ecology, as evidenced by his books The Eucharistic Vision of Laudato Si’ and Everything Is Interconnected.

Dr. Briola’s research explores intersections of Eucharistic theology, ecological conversion, and Catholic social thought. He won the College Theology Society’s Best Article Award in 2021 for his work on Laudato Si’ and Lonergan’s doxological framework. His publications appear in journals such as Theological Studies, New Blackfriars, and Journal of Moral Theology.

He co-founded the Rev. Nathan Munsch, OSB, Scholarship Fund for theology majors and serves as managing editor of Conversatio, Saint Vincent’s academic journal. An avid cross-country runner and marathoner, he is married to fellow theology professor Catherine Briola.
