Jerome Doyon serves as a Junior Professor at the Sciences Po Center for International Research (CERI), specializing in contemporary Chinese politics. His academic appointments include previous positions at Harvard University, University of Oxford, University of Edinburgh, and SOAS University of London.
His research concentrates on Chinese domestic and foreign policy with particular focus on the internal functioning of the Chinese Communist Party, political elites, youth political organizations, and ethnic/religious minorities management. Doyon examines how political networks operate within the Party-state structure and how organizations like the Communist Youth League facilitate elite renewal.
Doyon's recent publications reveal a consistent trajectory examining Chinese political structures through network analysis and organizational theory. His work demonstrates how seemingly weak institutions like the Communist Youth League can serve as critical pathways for political advancement, while his earlier research explored state-religion dynamics through the lens of Chinese Islamic associations.
Doyon holds a double doctorate from Columbia University and Sciences Po Paris. Prior to his academic career, he served as editor-in-chief of the journal China Analysis at the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR). His scholarly contributions appear in leading journals including The China Quarterly, Political Studies, and Critique Internationale.
