معرفی
Jerome Ackerman, Ph.D. serves as an Associate Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School and as an Investigator at the Mass General Research Institute. He is affiliated with the Athinoula A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging, located at 149 13th Street, Charlestown, MA 02129. His work bridges academic medicine and advanced imaging technology development.
Dr. Ackerman's research focuses on innovative applications of magnetic resonance imaging, particularly in the areas of biomaterials, bone research, and interventional radiology. His laboratory, the Biomaterials and Extremity Scanner Laboratory, develops cutting-edge MRI instrumentation and methodologies. His primary research themes include MRI Therapy (particularly MR Radiofrequency Ablation and MR Coagulation technologies), Solid State MRI and MRS of Bone and Biomaterials, and Moving MRI systems for vestibular and traumatic brain injury studies.
His publication record from 2002-2023 demonstrates consistent contributions across medical imaging, orthopedics, and biomaterials science. His recent work has focused on advanced applications of MRI for orthopedic implants, high-field imaging of bone structures, and novel methods for multi-nuclear spectroscopy.
Dr. Ackerman received his B.S. in Chemistry from Stony Brook University (1971), followed by a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from MIT (1976), and completed postdoctoral training at the University of California, Berkeley (1977). His educational background in physical chemistry has clearly informed his approach to medical imaging physics and biomaterials characterization.
