Jeroen van der Ham is an Associate Professor at the University of Twente, affiliated with the 4TU.Ethics and Technology institute. He works as a researcher at the National Cyber Security Centre in the Netherlands (NCSC-NL) and holds guest appointments at TU Delft and the University of Amsterdam.
His research focuses on the ethics of cyber security, particularly addressing ethical dilemmas in data collection, online file sharing, and network engineering. He transitioned to this field after encountering ethical challenges in his 2013 PhD work on measuring users of The PirateBay, leading to collaborations like the paper coauthored with Aimee van Wynsberghe.
He participates in initiatives such as the Dagstuhl Seminar on Ethics in Data Sharing and contributes to the 4TU.Ethics community through education, knowledge exchange with industry and policymakers, and leadership in interdisciplinary research projects.
