Jeroen Aerts is a Professor of Water and Climate Risks at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, focusing on interdisciplinary flood prevention strategies that integrate climate science, water management, and socio-economic factors such as spatial planning and human behavior. He is a member of the Natural and Technical Sciences - Earth Sciences Section of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) since 2025 and affiliated with The Young Academy.
