Dr. Jeremy Wente serves as the Department Chair of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Southwestern Christian University, a role he has held since 2014. He holds a D.S.W. from the University of St. Thomas (2020), an M.S.W. from the University of Oklahoma (2002), and a B.S. in Psychology from Southern Nazarene University (1997). A Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), he is affiliated with NASW, Oklahoma Counseling Association, and the Association of Biblical Counselors.
His specialties include Clinical Social Work Practice/Counseling and Social Service Administration. Research interests focus on Non-Profit/Social Service Organizational Health and Child Advocacy. He teaches courses such as Intro to Sociology, Issues in Ethics in Helping Professions, Crisis Intervention, Cultural Anthology, and Program Report Writing.
Key publications include closing remarks at the 2014 History and Christian Thought Forum and a 2015 supervised undergraduate research presentation at Southern Nazarene University. Dr. Wente's mission centers on developing future social service leaders passionate about systemic change. He balances professional commitments with personal interests like playing guitar in his church's worship band at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene.
