Jeremy Webber is Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Victoria, where he holds the Canada Research Chair in Law and Society. His career spans academic leadership roles at McGill University, the University of Sydney (as Dean of Law), and UVic, with a focus on integrating cross-cultural perspectives into constitutional theory.
His research examines the constitutional structure of democratic governance, particularly in contexts of cultural diversity, indigenous rights, and national identity. He has published extensively on topics including Quebec-Canada dynamics, labor relations, and constitutional design, emphasizing the challenges of reconciling divergent cultural frameworks within legal systems.
Webber earned his B.A. in Political Science from the University of British Columbia, his LLB and BCL from McGill University, and his LLM from Osgoode Hall Law School. His work bridges legal traditions (common law and civil law) and prioritizes social justice, with a strong emphasis on Indigenous legal traditions.
