Jeremy Waldron is a Professor of Law and University Professor at NYU School of Law. He previously held the Chichele Professorship of Social and Political Theory at Oxford University (All Souls College) until recently. His work focuses on legal and political philosophy, with expertise in constitutional theory, jurisprudence, and democratic principles.
Education: DPhil (Law), Oxford University (1986); LLB and BA (Philosophy), University of Otago, New Zealand (1978, 1974).
Research Interests: Constitutional Theory, Law and Philosophy, Legal Philosophy, Political Theory, Jurisprudence, and Democracy. He explores topics such as rights, constitutionalism, the rule of law, and the moral foundations of legal systems.
Recent Work Trends: Recent publications address hate speech regulation, counterterrorism ethics, and democratic institutional design. His books combine theoretical rigor with practical legal analysis.
Awards: Fellow of the British Academy (2011), Phillips Prize (2011), and an honorary doctorate from the University of Otago (2005).
