Jeremy Sorgen serves as an Assistant Research Professor and Provost Impact Fellow at Mills College, Northeastern University. His academic work bridges religion, ethics, and environmental studies through community-engaged scholarship focused on policy reform and environmental decision-making processes.

Dr. Sorgen's research centers on community-based methodologies, Indigenous studies, and environmental ethics, with active collaboration with California Native American Tribes to address Tribal cultural resource protection and sustainable land use planning. His interdisciplinary approach integrates philosophical frameworks with practical environmental problem-solving, emphasizing capacity-building for marginalized communities in policy contexts.
His research has secured competitive funding from the Henry Luce Foundation, National Endowment for the Humanities, and Social Science Research Council. He is currently authoring the book "Research in Relationship: Community-Based Research and Environmental Problem-Solving" to document collaborative research models and their real-world applications in environmental governance.
