Jeremy Jennings is a Professor of Political Theory at King's College London within the Department of Political Economy, Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy. He holds visiting professorships at the Fondation Nationale des Sciences Politiques in Paris and has held roles at Swansea University (1979-1995), University of Birmingham (1995-2005), and Queen Mary University of London (2005-2013). His research focuses on French political thought from the 18th century onward, including major works like The Cambridge History of French Thought (2019) and Travels with Tocqueville beyond America (2023).

Research interests emphasize the evolution of liberty concepts, revolutionary ideologies, and transnational political thought. Recent projects include analyzing Tocqueville's American observations and the trajectory of French intellectual history. He leads King's Political Theory Research Group, emphasizing political economy's role in theoretical frameworks. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals through historical analysis of governance and societal structures.
Grants include the British Academy-funded 'Public Opinion versus Popular Sovereignty' (2022-2024) and 'Protest, Disobedience and Democracy' (2015-2018). Active in academic partnerships, he collaborated with New Giza University on economics programs. Regularly teaches on political thought from the Renaissance, including liberalism and economic theory.
