معرفی
Jeremy Davies is a Senior Lecturer and part-time lecturer at Aberystwyth University's Department of Geography & Earth Sciences (DGES) since 2012, teaching Welsh Mineral Resources. He previously held significant roles at the British Geological Survey (BGS) from 1978 to 2010, including Chief Geologist Wales and Head of Station for the BGS Cardiff Office (2008–2010), where he advanced collaborative research and stakeholder engagement in Welsh geology.
His research spans sedimentology, stratigraphy, and palaeontology, focusing on Late Ordovician to Silurian successions in Wales, Lower Carboniferous carbonate facies, and Late-Pleistocene deglaciation studies. He contributed to establishing global stratotype sections (e.g., Rheidol Gorge) and integrated biosphere-geosphere dynamics during climate transitions. Awards include the 2011 MBE for services to science.
Recent publications highlight his expertise in glacioeustasy, biostratigraphy (chitinozoans, graptolites), and deglaciation processes, with collaborative work across universities and institutions. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in geological resource management and climate impact studies.
