Jeremy Counseller serves as the Dean and Abner V. McCall Chair of Evidence Law at Baylor Law School. He has been a faculty member since 2003 and assumed the deanship in July 2024. His roles include teaching Civil Procedure and contributing to Baylor Law’s Practice Court Program.
- Education: JD and MBA from Baylor (2000), BA from Stephen F. Austin State University (summa cum laude)
- Professional Background: Law clerk to Judge Reynaldo G. Garza, private practice at Bracewell & Patterson, Assistant Criminal District Attorney
Research focuses on evidentiary and procedural law, reflected in co-authored books like Handbook of Texas Evidence and Civil Procedure: In Focus. He contributed to restructuring Texas Rules of Evidence as part of the State Bar committee.
Notable awards include Baylor’s Outstanding Faculty Award for Teaching (2021-2022), recognizing his dedication to teaching, research, and student engagement. Previously honored in 2007 as an Outstanding Faculty member.
Leadership roles include directing the Baylor Law Academy of the Advocate in St. Andrews (2013–2024) and serving as Baylor’s Faculty Athletics Representative to the Big 12 Conference.
