Professor Jeremy Aynsley is affiliated with the University of Brighton, recognized for its prominence in Design History. His academic career intersects with the 40-year development of design history as an academic discipline. A key focus of his work includes the study of commercial signage in the 1920s, post-war German graphic design, and the political and spatial dimensions of designed environments.
His inaugural lecture, 'On words, signs and spaces: Reflections on design history' (2015), explored these themes, drawing on new research to analyze how designed spaces and graphic elements reflect cultural and political contexts. The lecture was delivered at the Sallis Benney Theatre in Brighton, highlighting his contributions to the historical interpretation of public and exhibition spaces.
