معرفی
Prof. Jens Volker Kratz (1944–2024) was a distinguished nuclear chemist and full professor at the Department of Chemistry, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. He led the nuclear chemistry group at GSI Darmstadt and contributed to the discovery of superheavy elements. His research focused on transactinides, heavy-ion reactions, and laser spectroscopy of actinides.
Education: Studied Chemistry at Mainz University (1963–1971), earned his PhD (summa cum laude), and conducted postdoctoral research at UC Berkeley (1972–1974).
Research Interests:
- Mechanisms of heavy-ion reactions
- Synthesis of transactinide elements
- Exotic nuclei studies
- Laser resonance ionization spectroscopy
Awards: Otto-Hahn Prize (1998) and GSI Exotic Nuclei Award (2006).
Advising & Grants: Advised Katharina Hermainski. Contributed to FAIR/GSI projects and the Helmholtz Institute Mainz.
Labs/Teams: Co-developed TASCA facility at GSI, involved with TRIGA Mainz reactor.
