Jens Timmer

Prof. Dr. Jens Timmer is a Professor of Theoretical Physics at the University of Freiburg, affiliated with the Institute of Physics and the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics. He leads the research group 'Data Analysis and Modelling of Dynamic Processes in the Life Sciences' and serves as Co-Director of the Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies (FRIAS), specifically within the School of Life Sciences (LifeNet). His research focuses on applying mathematical methods to analyze and model biological and medical dynamical processes, aiming to transform life sciences into quantitative fields. Timmer holds a Ph.D. from the University of Freiburg (1994) and has held postdoc positions at institutions such as the University of Boulder, ETH Lausanne, and New York University.
