Jenny Zapf, Ph.D., is a Senior Fellow and Founding Director of the world's first M.S.Ed. and M.S.Ed.-MBA in Education Entrepreneurship at the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education (GSE) and Wharton School of Business. She also co-founded and leads Penn GSE's virtual Global Education Entrepreneurship & Innovation certificate program. As a global leader in education innovation, Dr. Zapf has advised leaders in over 30 countries and trains professionals in launching scalable educational ventures. Her work spans schools, universities, nonprofits, and venture labs, emphasizing equity-driven design and adaptive solutions.
Dr. Zapf teaches courses like Evaluation for Education Innovation, integrating lean startup methodologies, design thinking, and developmental evaluation. Her research focuses on cultivating entrepreneurial thinking, measuring innovation impact, and scaling models across education ecosystems. She frequently speaks at international events, including the ASU-GSV Summit and European EdTech Network.
Her initiatives include the Jacobs Education Impact Prize, funding social-impact ventures, and celebrating milestones like the M.S.Ed. program’s 10th anniversary. Dr. Zapf’s career reflects over three decades of academic leadership, nonprofit management, and policy work to transform global education landscapes.
