Jenny Vikman serves as Senior Lecturer in the Department of Sports Sciences within Malmö University's Faculty of Education and Society. Her academic work bridges sports science with practical health applications across educational and occupational contexts.
Her research focuses on physical activity promotion through multiple lenses: school health programs examining interprofessional collaboration between educators and healthcare providers, mental health interventions in high-stress occupations, and exercise adherence patterns among specialized populations. Recent work analyzes sedentary behavior challenges in school settings and longitudinal health trends among police students.
Current research examines:
- Barriers to physical activity prescription implementation in Swedish schools
- Screen time management strategies from school nurses' perspectives
- Gender-specific exercise patterns during police academy training
- Mental health orientation shifts throughout professional education
Vikman actively collaborates across faculties, particularly with the Faculty of Health and Society's Unit for Police Work, and contributes to the Citizen Health research environment focused on community-engaged public health improvement. Her methodological approach combines qualitative grounded theory with longitudinal quantitative analysis to develop evidence-based health promotion frameworks applicable to real-world settings.
