Jenny Mueller

Jenny Mueller is an Associate Professor at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering. She specializes in ecological engineering, sustainability education, and ethical decision-making in engineering contexts.

• Education: BS in Environmental Engineering from Northwestern University, MS and PhD in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on Environmental River Mechanics from Colorado State University.

Her research focuses on pedagogical strategies for integrating sustainability and ethics into undergraduate engineering education, with a historical emphasis on surface water-groundwater interactions and nitrate uptake in streams. Recent projects highlight curriculum development touchpoints across four-year engineering programs.

Notable awards include the ASEE Environmental Engineering Division Early Career Award (2015), Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) certification, and the 2022 Honorary Alumni Award at RHIT. She is a licensed Professional Engineer in Indiana.

Dr. Mueller actively mentors students in capstone senior design projects, emphasizing sustainable design principles throughout the process. She also serves as an advisor for Engineering for a Sustainable World and contributes to professional practice through EPA consultancy on environmental remediation projects.
