Dr. Jenny M. Stuber is Professor of Sociology at University of North Florida. She holds a PhD in Sociology from Indiana University, with additional degrees from Northwestern University and Brown University. Her research examines cultural dimensions of social class inequality, focusing on symbolic resources like social and cultural capital.
Her scholarship investigates how individuals understand, enact, and utilize social class in everyday life. Research streams include higher education experiences (explored in her 2011 book Inside the College Gates) and community responses to extreme inequality (examined in her 2021 book Aspen and the American Dream).
Her publications focus on sociology of education, spatial inequality, and cultural capital. Recent work analyzes supergentrification in Aspen, Colorado, examining how communities manage extreme inequality. Earlier research investigated class dynamics in higher education.
She received the 2020-2021 Outstanding Faculty Scholarship Award and grants including Faculty Development Grant for Off-Campus Study (2012). She has authored textbooks including Exploring Inequality: A Sociological Approach and co-edited Schools and Society: A Reader.
