Jennine Krueger, Assistant Professor in the English Department at Huston-Tillotson University, is an award-winning poetess and spoken word artist recognized for her innovative work bridging medieval literature with contemporary urban culture. She combines academic rigor with performance arts to make classical texts accessible and engaging.
- Education: B.A. from Huston-Tillotson University, M.F.A. from Spalding University, M.Ed. in Education Administration from Concordia University, currently pursuing M.A. in Literature at Texas State University
Research Interests: Focuses on hip hop adaptations of medieval texts, poetry as mental health catharsis, and urban language translations of classics like Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Canterbury Tales, and Dante's Inferno. Her work incorporates black girl magic and elements of black college culture.
Artistic Projects:
- Developing musical Green with Theatre Now (NYC) to reinterpret Sir Gawain through hip hop
- Creating anime series Ars Poetica exploring poetry and mental health
