Dr. Jennifer Wood Kanupka is the Chair of the Education Department and an Associate Professor at Lebanon Valley College. Her expertise lies in supporting students with high incidence disabilities, with a focus on special education. She holds a B.S. from Lebanon Valley College, an M.A. from The Pennsylvania State University, an Ed.D. from Immaculata University, and holds certifications in Special Education and Principal roles from Penn State.

Her research explores evidence-based classroom practices for pre-service special education teachers, the impact of physical activity on children with disabilities, and family perspectives in disability support. Publications include studies on aquatic therapy, rock climbing programs, and running interventions for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) populations, with trends showing integration of physical activity and special education pedagogy.
Dr. Kanupka has presented at conferences including the Teacher Education Division of the Council for Exceptional Children (TED-CEC) and the Pennsylvania Association of Colleges for Teacher Educators (PAC-TE). She teaches courses such as Evidence-Based Effective Instruction in Educating Students with High Incidence Disabilities (SPE 260), Services and Strategies in Secondary Special Education (SPE 390), and Senior Capstone (SPE 410). She will be on sabbatical in Spring 2025 to further her research.
