Dr. Jennifer Tomasone is an Assistant Professor in the School of Kinesiology and Health Studies at Queen’s University, within the Faculty of Arts and Science. Her research focuses on optimizing physical activity participation for individuals with disabilities and improving healthcare professionals’ ability to prescribe physical activity. She holds degrees from Queen’s University (BPHE, MSc) and a PhD from McMaster University.
Key research areas include rehabilitation medicine, musculoskeletal health, and exercise physiology, with an emphasis on community-based programs and healthcare system integration. Recent work explores barriers to implementing disability-inclusive exercise programs, national guideline dissemination, and interventions targeting cancer survivors and spinal cord injury patients.
Her work emphasizes collaboration with community organizations and primary care providers to develop practical tools like the Whole Day Matters Toolkit. Findings aim to enhance policy translation and improve health outcomes through accessible physical activity initiatives.
