Jennifer Severance, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in Internal Medicine & Geriatrics at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, part of the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC). She is also a member of the Institute for Healthy Aging. Her research focuses on geriatric education, age-friendly healthcare systems, and improving care for older adults through interprofessional teamwork. She holds a BA in Biology from Austin College, an MS in Long Term Care Administration from the University of North Texas, and a PhD in Applied Gerontology from UNT.
Her work emphasizes innovative educational programs for health professionals, targeting primary care providers and students to enhance geriatric practice. Current projects include evaluating age-friendly health systems and workforce development initiatives. She has secured multiple grants from agencies like the Health Resources & Service Administration and Texas Department of State Health Services, including a 2024 project on workforce enhancement in healthy aging.
Publications highlight themes such as geriatric justice in correctional facilities, student perceptions of aging, and quality improvement in age-friendly care. Her research network spans collaborations with institutions in Texas and beyond, addressing systemic challenges in elderly care through interdisciplinary approaches.
