Jennifer Ramsay is a Professor in the Anthropology Programs at SUNY Brockport. Her office is located in Fannie Barrier Williams Bldg 113, and she can be reached at (585) 395-5706. She holds a PhD in Archaeology from Simon Fraser University (Canada), an MSc in Environmental Archaeology and Paleoeconomy from the University of Sheffield (UK), and a BA in Anthropology from the University of Victoria (Canada).
Her research focuses on plant remains from archaeological sites in Jordan, Israel, Turkey, and Italy (8000 BCE–1200 CE), analyzing ancient agricultural practices in arid Mediterranean environments. Key interests include desertification studies, water management techniques, and cross-cultural environmental adaptations. She has co-directed the Continuity and Transition Archaeological Project in Petra, Jordan, and led the Petra Garden and Pool Complex project, emphasizing experiential learning through field schools in Petra and Legio, Israel.
Ramsay teaches courses such as ANT 101 (The Human Condition), ANT 202 (Introduction to Archaeology), and specialized modules like Environmental Archaeology.
