Jennifer McDonel

Dr. Jennifer McDonel is a Professor of Music and Director of Music Education at Radford University, where she trains future music educators and serves as Associate Director of the Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarship. Her work emphasizes the ethical responsibility of teaching music as a universal human capacity, particularly in early childhood education.

Research Focus

Specializing in Music Learning Theory, Dr. McDonel investigates how music shapes young minds and connects to mathematical cognition. Her collaborations with national organizations like Primrose Schools and ZERO TO THREE have produced educational materials integrating music with developmental learning. She has released two children's music albums exploring interdisciplinary concepts:
