Jennifer McArthur is an Associate Professor and Graduate Program Director in the Department of Architectural Science at Toronto Metropolitan University, within the Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science. She also serves as Associate Chair for Graduate Studies in Project Management and leads the Smart Campus Integration and Testing Lab. Her work focuses on smart technologies, decarbonization, and sustainable building practices.

Research & Leadership: McArthur pioneers decarbonization strategies for buildings and urban systems. She leads the world’s first 100% digitally enabled building project using cognitive digital twins and co-founded a national consortium (30+ partners) advancing smart building adoption. As Dimensions Faculty Lead, she promotes equity in research practices.
Teaching & Impact: Teaches courses like Project Economics (ASC 522) and Emerging Design Processes (PM 8201). Advises graduate students on research impacting building sustainability. Served on Toronto’s Net Zero 2040 advisory board, translating academic insights into policy.
Labs & Teams: Principal Investigator for the Smart Campus Lab and leader of the Smart Building Initiative consortium. Collaborates with industry, governments, and researchers across disciplines to drive innovation in built environment sustainability.
