Jennifer M. Fernandez is an Associate Professor at the CUNY School of Law, where she focuses on academic support and bar preparation. She previously served as a clinical supervisor and lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School (2018–2022), overseeing student representation of low-income clients in civil litigation. Her professional background includes roles as a public interest attorney at Queens Legal Services and Neighborhood Defender Service of Harlem, advocating for tenant rights, domestic violence survivors, and other marginalized groups.
Education: B.A. Yale College, J.D. Columbia Law School, M.S. in Teaching from Pace School of Education. She also clerked for Judge Lawrence H. Ecker of the New York State Supreme Court. Her scholarly interests center on access to justice in civil courts, legal education reform, and increasing diversity in the legal profession.
Additional roles include Adjunct Assistant Professor at Queens College (CUNY), special education teacher in NYC public schools, and mentorship through youth programs like Legal Outreach. Awards include the Coro Fellowship and NYC Teaching Fellowship. She has contributed to clinical legal education and externship supervision programs.
