Jennifer Hutson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at St. Catherine University. Her academic roles include teaching courses in assistive technology, adult rehabilitation, research foundations, and doctoral capstone projects. She advises students on evidence-based projects, focusing on topics like postural care, seating/positioning, and sleep positioning. Dr. Hutson previously practiced clinical assistive technology at Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare (2002–2021), where she developed staff training programs and engaged in research. She earned a PhD in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Minnesota in 2020, with a focus on sleep interventions and caregiver competence in cerebral palsy care.
Her research explores global sleep-related experiences of children with limited movement, contextual factors affecting their care, and the health impacts of postural care management (e.g., quality of life, pain, and body shape). She also serves as a faculty advisor for the Pi Theta Epsilon occupational therapy honor society.
