Jennifer Goya-Smith is an Assistant Professor of Multimedia at Hawaii Pacific University's College of Liberal Arts, Department of Arts, Communications, Languages, and Media. As a Honolulu-born visual artist, her work spans video, web, and audio/visual programming, with recent exhibitions including a video game about tourist souvenir marketplaces at the Artist of Hawaii 2023 exhibition and the John Young Award-winning interactive installation on Rapid Ohia Death (2021).
- MFA in Computer Art from School of Visual Arts, New York, NY
- BA in Video Art from Hampshire College, Amherst, MA
With over 15 years of teaching experience, she has designed courses like MULT 1050: Point, Shoot, Edit and COM 6440: Photo, Video, and Post-Production. Her notable projects include community collaborations with Holyoke YMCA, Tribeca Film Institute, and Kahoolawe Island Reserve Commission.
Her scientific recognition includes the prestigious John Young Award (2021) for environmental multimedia work.
