Jennifer Fleeger is a Professor and Coordinator of Film Studies at Ursinus College, where she has been a faculty member since 2013. Her research investigates how film and visual media represent sound, with a focus on intersections of music, technology, and identity.
- Education: B.A. from Macalester College, M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Iowa.
- Research Interests: Hollywood cinema, film music, sound studies, media technology, and Scandinavian cinema.
Her recent work includes analyzing the role of voice in media through publications like “When Robots Speak on Screen” and “The Sound of Slime-ness.” She co-edited Media Ventriloquism and is completing a book on media and childhood.
Awards: Nominated for the Virgil Thomas Award for Outstanding Music Criticism.
