Jennifer Dorsey

Jennifer Dorsey serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Fine and Performing Arts at Bowie State University's College of Arts & Sciences, holding key administrative roles including Coordinator of the Dance and Movement Studies Concentration and Dance Minor, while co-sponsoring the National Honors Society for Dance Arts.

Her academic credentials feature:

• B.F.A. in Dance Performance from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts
• M.F.A. in Dance Performance and Choreography from University of Maryland at College Park

Specializing in Dance and Movement Studies, Professor Dorsey maintains active artistic practice through choreography for major productions (Ain't Misbehavin, The Wiz, Grease) and annual direction of BSU Dance Concerts and DanceShare events. Her expertise extends to Pilates methodology, informed by training under Kathy Grant, a direct disciple of Joseph Pilates.

Current initiatives include developing a comprehensive Dance Major Program proposal and designing new courses such as Hip Hop Dance Technique and Tap Dance Technique II. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Kinetics Dance Theatre, supporting their School of Dance, Youth Ensemble, and professional company operations.
