Jasmine Mejia

Jasmine Mejia is an Assistant Professor of Dance at Hope College, where she teaches composition, modern, jazz, tap, and hip-hop courses. She is the artistic co-director of H2 Dance Company and advises the college’s Dance Club.

Education:

• MFA in Dance with a concentration in Pedagogy, New York University’s Tisch School of Arts (2018)
• BFA in Dance and Choreography, Virginia Commonwealth University (2011)
• Dance Major, Long Island High School for the Arts

Her research explores connections between sound, movement, and fortuity via her Rhythmic Motion method, and her expertise spans modern dance, jazz technique, and choreography. Her work has been showcased at venues like the Kennedy Center and Lincoln Center, as well as in international film festivals.

• ACDF ALVA Award for Choreographic Excellence (2024)
