Jennifer Dickens

Dr. Jennifer Dickens is a Principal Investigator at the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research (CIMR) and affiliated with the Department of Medicine at the University of Cambridge. Her research focuses on understanding alveolar epithelial dysfunction in pulmonary fibrosis, a progressive lung disease, using organoid models derived from human fetal lung tissue. She investigates how repeated epithelial cell injury and inherited genetic variants contribute to disease progression, aiming to identify novel therapeutic targets.

Dr. Dickens' work aligns with CIMR's strategic themes of membrane trafficking, organelle biology, and rare genetic diseases. Her research integrates molecular mechanisms of human disease with translational approaches, supported by funding from Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis, LifeArc, and the Cambridge-GSK collaboration (CG-TIC). Her lab employs advanced techniques such as CRISPR/Cas9 screening and proteomics to dissect cellular pathways involved in lung pathology.
