Jennifer Dailey-O'Cain is a Professor of German Applied Linguistics in the Department of Modern Languages and Cultural Studies at the University of Alberta, where she has taught since 1997. She holds a PhD in Germanic Linguistics from the University of Michigan and has extensive experience in sociolinguistics, focusing on language use in relation to identity, globalization, and migration. Her research encompasses language variation in post-unification Germany, migrant language practices, and the role of English in social media among youth.
Her current projects explore language ideologies in linguistic landscapes and multimodal approaches to intercultural communication.
