Dr. Jennifer Buxton is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Education at Saint Vincent College. She teaches courses in special education, including ED 208 - Classroom Partnerships and Inclusion, ED 290 - Psychology and Education for Exceptional Students, and ED 355 - Instructional Interventions for Students with High Incidence Disabilities, while also serving as a student teaching supervisor.
- Education: Ph.D. in Research Methodology, Special Education, and Educational Psychology (2017) from George Mason University; MS Ed. in Elementary Education (2001) and BA in Psychology (2000) from Duquesne University.
Her research focuses on special education, literacy instruction for English Language Learners (ELLs), and reading comprehension strategies. Her work explores inclusive pedagogies, self-management techniques for students with learning disabilities, and collaborative interventions like PALS (Peer-Assisted Learning Strategies).
Her publications and conference presentations (2010–2017) highlight trends in special education, including addressing communication deficits through play interventions and integrating identity-based learning approaches. She has presented at national conferences such as the Council for Exceptional Children and Applied Behavior Analysis International Conference.
