Jennifer Ann Salant is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medicine and an Assistant Attending Pediatrician at NewYork-Presbyterian Phyllis and David Komansky Children's Hospital. She directs the Pediatric Advanced Care Team (PACT), focusing on palliative care for seriously ill children and their families. Her clinical expertise includes pediatric critical care medicine, hospice care, and general pediatrics. She is board-certified in these three specialties and holds dual appointments at Weill Cornell Medical College and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.
Salant earned her B.A. in Neuroscience and Behavior (cum laude, research honors) from Columbia University (2009) and her M.D. from Weill Cornell Medical College (2013). She completed residency at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, followed by fellowships in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine (Columbia University) and Hospice and Palliative Medicine (Memorial Sloan Kettering).
Her research emphasizes symptom management in critically ill children, family-centered decision-making in palliative care, and optimizing PICU care pathways. She has published on laboratory efficiency in hemoglobin testing, refractory asthma management, and longitudinal distress in long-stay PICU families. Her work integrates clinical innovation with ethical care frameworks.
Salant teaches serious illness communication at VitalTalk and clinical skills at Weill Cornell’s Smith Clinical Skills Center. She speaks English and holds no disclosed external relationships.
